In the Book of Ali (a.s) [it is written]: ‘There are three traits whose perpetrator shall never die until he witnesses their disastrous consequence: injustice (transgression), severing kinship ties, and a false oath whereby one brazenly challenges Allah. Indeed, the fastest act of obedience to yield reward is upholding kinship ties; a folk may even be sinful, yet they maintain ties of kinship, so their wealth increases, and they treat each other with goodness, so their lifespans are prolonged. And indeed, a false oath and the severing of kinship ties leave dwellings utterly desolate of their inhabitants, and they overburden the womb—and the overburdening of the womb is the cessation of lineage.’
